Beautiful! - We love to hike in this area...there is always rapid water and small waterfalls. But, today we saw our first black bear just down the road from the hatchery, maybe 1/2 mile. So excited but quickly got back to our car. He was large and looked quite comfy lying next to the creek, probably catching fish. It was a scene I have only seen on t.v. What a day!!
Emergency Response - My husband fell off our boat in the parking lot behind the store on 30 August 2016 and the response from the store staff and park rangers was awesome. We received immediate medical attention and emergency services were contacted to transport him to the Sierra Vista hospital. Many, Many thanks to all.
most beautiful desert in existence - I love the area. I went to school at browns crossing in 1956-57 while living at Black diamond mine. I think the bus at the north end of the lake is the one I lived in. I have pictures and am interested in history. Can you help me? Thank you!
Last 40 years - Have shared the Peak in blazing heat to beautiful lightning storms, with wild burros nudging us with velvet noses to near misses with huge javalinas, many snakes, birds, lizards,a gorgeous ringtail (tail up), a similarly roasted, midsummer fox seeking shade in little cave off trail over rock with manmade chain pull. Much nicer in the old days with no pay and fairly pristine, but wonderful to share PP with humans, as well as spiders. No way to document all memories of frequent campers.
Fun in the Sun! - Visited a few times. Great place to get away from it all. Very relaxing. Check out this video I made of my visit to the park on YouTube:
Sonoran Desert experience - First visited way back in 1998 after an Ultimate tourney. Hiked up Flatiron and loved it. Returned again in 2004, 2007 an 2009 as a part of various AZ trips. Always great clean facilities, nice interpretive trail at the Visitor center, and nice and helpful Park Rangers. The park has great access to the trails of the Superstition wilderness. Oh, I also saw a great Astronomy/Stargazing program at the Ampitheater.
