Beachside State Park   97394

A few miles south of Waldport and north of Yachats on the central coast, this small, exquisite destination campground is right along side miles of broad, sandy beach that makes the park perfect for kite flying and watching. Tent and electric sites accommodate one vehicle per site. Every site is mere seconds from the beach, which makes the park perfect for watching storms, sunsets and whales.

Recent erosion at the park has prompted us to change some trails and start an erosion control program.

Beachside is an excellent mid-point stop as you take a jaunt on the coast. Within 30 miles in either direction, you'll find visitor centers, tide pools, hiking and driving tours, three lighthouses, crabbing, clamming, fishing, aquarium and science centers.
History of the Area
Beachside State Park, located on the picturesque Oregon coast, has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. The area where the park now stands was once inhabited by Native American tribes who relied on its abundant natural resources for their livelihoods.

During the 19th century, European settlers began arriving in this region of Oregon and established small communities along the coastline. These early pioneers recognized both the beauty and potential recreational value of Beachside's sandy beaches and stunning ocean views.

In subsequent years, as tourism grew in popularity across America during the late 1800s and early 1900s, more people started visiting Beachside regularly. Its pristine shores became an attractive destination for families seeking relaxation or adventure amidst nature's wonders.

The state government eventually took notice of Beachside's appeal as well as its ecological significance. In order to preserve this unique coastal environment while providing public access to it, plans were made to establish what is now known today as one of Oregon's most beloved state parks!
