DART ISLAND STATE PARK
Dart Island State Park is a small, undeveloped island park located on the Connecticut River. It's accessible only by boat and offers opportunities for fishing, bird watching and boating amidst its natural beauty. The 12-acre area remains largely untouched with no facilities or amenities available onsite; it truly provides an escape into nature's tranquility.
This park was once a private estate before being acquired by the state in 1944. The island's name originates from its dart-like shape when viewed aerially. It is primarily used for fishing and boating due to its location on the Connecticut River.
The property has been maintained as a natural preserve with minimal development since it became public land. Despite having no facilities or services, visitors are drawn to its tranquil setting and abundant wildlife.
Connecticut has made state parks, forests, trails, historic sites and beaches more accessible to our residents so they can enjoy the many attractions and beauty they offer. Under the Passport to the Parks program, parking fees are now eliminated at Connecticut State Parks for those with Connecticut registered vehicles. You can view the
