Ike Kinswa State Park is a 421-acre camping park with 46,000 feet of freshwater shoreline on the north side of Mayfield Lake. In addition to its excellent boating, fishing and swimming options, the park offers short hiking trails, birding, wildlife viewing and two horseshoe pits.
History of the Area
The area around Ike Kinswa State Park was originally inhabited by the Cowlitz Indians. Their burial ground is located in the region. Many graves were relocated when the Mayfield Dam backed water up into the canyon. The area was originally named Mayfield Lake State Park, but the name was changed in 1971 to honor Ike Kinswa, a Cowlitz Indian who represented his people.
Passes
A Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks for day use. For more information about the Discover Pass and exemptions, please visit the Discover Pass web page.
Cabins
The nine cabins at Ike Kinswa State Park sit along Mayfield Lake and are within walking distance of the lake.
Camping
The park has 27 standard campsites, sites, 72 partial hookup sites, nine cabins, an RV dump station, four restrooms and 10 showers.
Boating
The watercraft launch now has paved parking and two launch lanes. Forty feet of handling dock. This is a busy lake with lots of water-skiing and personal watercraft activity during the warmer months.

A daily watercraft launching permit and a trailer dumping permit is available at the park. Annual permits also may be purchased at State Parks Headquarters in Olympia, at region offices, online, and at parks when staff is available.

Visitor Comments, Memories and Reviews
August 11 we had deer come to campsite by Nancy Romero
park review stars; one to five oh the beautiful water view and the trees are beautiful. great place to camp. My grandkids had a blast.
August 18 Be prepared for extremely dirty bathroom
park review stars; one to five Park was beautiful. Good tree cover. Bathrooms constantly running out of toilet paper and walls and floors always covered in dirt. Ceiling to floor dirt. Even after it is cleaned, it is covered in dirt, it was just moved around with a broom. Sounds echo a lot, so if you need it silent for sleep, not a good place to stay.
August 26 A lovely place by Patricia Gordon, Maryland
park review stars; one to five We were only there for a day but were impressed by the beauty of the surroundings, the accommodations and the professionalism of the attendants. We hope to return. Who is Ike Kinswa?
