Went there with a group on Aug 28...the grounds are great for a day out. However the bathrooms were spotless at 8:30, but by 10am they were a disgusting mess that just got worse. If a Parkway reststop can be kept clean all day, so can 4 bathrooms.
Half the adjacent beach area was closed but had 2 lifeguards in one chair...maybe one could have moved 75 feet and sat by himself and avoinded terrible overcrouding? Beaches were also closed for 45 min 3 times so both life guards could take their break together instead of staggering them.
As a park the people that were there that day made a mess, there was no Ranger control and do not listen to instructions. One person was told not to fish 5 times over the loud speaker, but just kept walking back and fishing and there were no rangers in sight all day.
This facility is to be closed M-F Aug 29- Sept 3 and then open for the final Holiday weekend. I think new management is warranted, as this is a beautiful area.
I would love to come back, but not on the weekend.

Beware of the NJ State Park Police. Make sure your dogs are leashed. You will be issued a summons! Once the park is full you cannot get in. I am a local resident who invested in a park pass and was still not allowed in once the park was full. I really do feel that local residents within a 5 mile radius should have preferential treatment in order to enjoy the privileges of the park. Taxes here (Hunterdon County) are extremely high with few services provided by the state. The least they could do is allow local residents access to the park (especially if they have a park pass).

We love swimming here! My only drawback is the crowds on the weekends! You can fish and go to the mountain as well. It is very clean and safe for the children. PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE DOWN THE PARK. IT IS MAGNIFICENT. I ALWAYS BROUGHT MY CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN THERE. IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND TIME, NOT TO MENTION PICNICING. 
I would like to find out if this park is still opened. My sister is celebrating her little boys birthday with a couple of relatives (not too many) and we would like to know if its still opened. Thanks I live in north jersey and the nearest park to me is branch brook. I hate it there. It is destroyed by people and its just land now. Round valley is a great spot to check out if you want to fish,herp,camp,swim..almost anything.. Do not take this away from us. This is one of the great places to enjoy with family and friends. I have been going to this park since it opened. Great place to paddle only 3 miles away from our Store http://www.paddlerscove.com why and when is the recreation park closing? My family would go camping for a week or two during my childhood here. For ten years it was the best part of my summer. I now have a son of my own and was hoping to give hime the same experience and values that I grew up with. This is awful. This park is one of the best highlights of living in this area!!! My family and I love this park for all of the activities that can be done there. wow... this is such a sad matter, we had no idea it was going to be closed. please, anyone if know how we can stop this from taking place please let us know.. my family and i truly love this place. I go to the park every summer with my kids and the love it! We have been going there for over 10 years now, this is just horrible to do to the people that have made so many memories and fun times there. I know how we can keep the park open.
