CROATAN NATIONAL FOREST
CROATAN NATIONAL FOREST
Croatan National Forest, one of four National Forests in North Carolina and the only true coastal forest in the East. The Croatan National Forest's 160,000 acres have pine forests, saltwater estuaries, bogs and raised swamps called pocosins. Bordered on three sides by tidal rivers and the Bogue Sound, the forest is defined by water.

All this water provides a variety of recreation and diversity of wildlife- from deer, black bears and turkeys to wading birds, ospreys and alligators. Canoeing and fishing are popular on blackwater creeks and saltwater marshes. The Croatan is also home to the carnivorous Venus fly-trap, sunder and pitcherplant.

The Croatan National Forest has one Ranger District, the Croatan Ranger District.

Location
Croatan National Forest is located near Havelock, Hubert and Morehead City

August 19 Love the cycling paths at the park by William
park review stars; one to five I am wondering when the cycling paths in the Flanners Beach Recreational Area will re-open. We know damage along the southern shores of the Neuse River was incurred during hurricane Florence September 2018, and many trees and such probably were downed from that storm. The Pinecliff Area of Croatan suffered damage along its shoreline from this storm. I know it will take sometime to rebuild these parts of the recreation areas in the National Forest. Many local off road cycling enthusiasts have enjoyed Croatans cycling trails for years. All of us are wondering when the Flanners Beach Trails will re-open. I would appreciate any information in this regard which you can give me.
