Located in northeastern Oklahoma on the shore of Grand Lake, Cherokee State Park offers three park areas: Riverside, Lakeside and Cherokee. Riverside Area is located below Pensacola Dam and known for great fishing. Amenities include picnic sites, a group shelter, campsites, comfort stations, lighted boat ramp, and a 9-hole golf course. Lakeside Area has a swimming beach, picnic sites, a group shelter, campsites, restroom with shower, playground and lighted boat ramp. The Cherokee Area features a swimming beach, picnic sites, a group shelter, campsites and restroom with showers. All water sports are allowed on Grand Lake.

The land for this site was acquired by the state of Oklahoma from multiple sources between 1952 and 1987.
It offers a variety of recreational activities such as camping, fishing, boating with facilities including cabins and RV sites.
In recent years it has faced budget cuts leading to reduced maintenance but remains popular among locals and tourists alike.
