COONEY RESERVOIR STATE PARK
Cooney Reservoir State Park, located in south-central Montana near the town of Roberts, is a popular regional destination for water-based recreation. The park's main feature is Cooney Reservoir itself-a 1,078-acre impoundment on Red Lodge Creek-renowned for its excellent walleye and rainbow trout fishing opportunities.
Spanning over 309 acres of land surrounding the reservoir, the state park was established to provide public access to water sports such as boating, swimming and windsurfing along with camping facilities. Opened year-round since it offers ice-fishing during winter months too; visitors can also enjoy picnicking areas and hiking trails that offer scenic views of Beartooth Mountains.
