LOGOLY STATE PARK
At Arkansas's first environmental education state park, interpreters present workshops on ecological/environmental topics. The park's natural resources provide a living laboratory for students and visitors. Most of Logoly's 368 acres comprise a State Natural Area that includes unique plant species and mineral springs.
Park facilities include six group tent sites (no hookups), a bathhouse with hot showers, standard pavilion (free to educational groups), picnic sites, playground, trails, and a visitor center with exhibits and an indoor classroom.
Located in Arkansas, this natural reserve was established as a state park in 1978. It spans over 368 acres and is renowned for its environmental education programs. The area's rich biodiversity includes various species of birds, insects, mammals and plants.
The land originally belonged to the pioneer family Logoly who settled there around the mid-1800s. In fact, it derived its name from them by combining "Log" from Logan (their surname) with "-oly," meaning 'place of.'
In addition to preserving local flora and fauna, educational initiatives were introduced focusing on ecology conservation awareness among visitors.
It features several amenities including an interactive visitor center that opened in 2013 showcasing exhibits about regional ecosystems.
This location also offers recreational activities like hiking trails through lush forests or picnicking amidst serene settings.
Today it stands as one of Arkansas' most visited parks due to its unique blend of nature preservation efforts coupled with engaging learning experiences.
