Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park adjoins Ogden Mills and Ruth Livingston Mills Memorial State Park and together, comprise more than one thousand acres. Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park offers a full menu of exhilarating recreational opportunities and activities for visitors of all ages. The numerous trails that thread through the grounds of both Mills and Norrie State Parks are ideal for walking, jogging, hiking, cycling, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing ? treating visitors to fabulous views of the Hudson River which runs directly along the parks? western boundaries.
Marinas
A marina consisting of slip space and a boat launch ramp is a popular area within the park. There are 145 slips, both fixed pier and floating dock, which are rented on a seasonal basis. Transient boaters are welcome if space allows. The marina also houses showers and a pump out station. For a nominal fee, electrical hookups are available.
Boating
The park offers a marina and boat launch site for public use, allowing visitors to enjoy boating on the Hudson River. Kayaking is also popular within this area. In addition, there are slips available for seasonal rental which can accommodate boats up to 40 feet in length.
Fishing
You can enjoy shoreline fishing along the Hudson River, catching species like striped bass and American shad. There's also a marina for boat-based angling where you might reel in largemouth or smallmouth bass. Other fish include catfish, perch, sunfish and carp.

Picnicking
Norrie State Park offers picnic tables and pavilions, perfect for family gatherings. Grills are available for barbecuing as well.
Bicycling
In this Hudson Valley locale, biking is a popular activity. However, cyclists should be aware of certain limitations.

The park's main road offers an easy ride for beginners and families. It's paved but can get busy with cars.

For mountain bikers seeking more challenge, there are several off-road trails to explore. These paths require advanced skills due to their rough terrain.

It's important that riders respect the natural environment by sticking to designated routes only; straying could harm local wildlife habitats or cause erosion damage on hillsides.

Remember too that helmets are required in New York State for all bicyclists under 14 years old - safety first!

Lastly, always check weather conditions before setting out as some areas may become unsafe after heavy rain or snowfall.
Birding
Birdwatchers can enjoy a variety of species, including waterfowl and warblers. The park features diverse habitats for birding year-round.
Area Attractions
A serene wooded area with glimpses of the river provides an ideal location for camping. There are 46 tent sites and 10 cabins available for rental at the park. Recreational vehicles are also welcome, however, the park does not offer hook up facilities. River access is available for campers with boats at the Norrie Marina and at the Norrie Environmental Center a variety of nature programs are offered on Saturdays during the summer months. Restroom facilities and showers are located within walking distance.

Visitor Comments, Memories and Reviews
September 2 Not well managed
park review stars; one to five We stayed here for 2 nights in early August. The facilities are run down, in disrepair, and not appealing at all. Campsite boundaries are not clear, had another small popup set up almost on top of our table and fire ring when we arrived. The campground did not enforce rules regarding the number of campers, tents, or cars at a site. The attendant was not at all helpful in finding the closest available water. She appeared to be preoccupied with something other than getting me checked in and settled.
May 2 Great for Boaters
park review stars; one to five If you?re a boater that likes to trailer and camp this is a spot not to be missed. Great camp site and nice cabins available. The marina is very accommodating to transient boaters and only gets $1 per foot per night for docking and that covers your launch fee! Located just a few miles south of Kingston there are numerous towns, with free docking, to explore up and down river. If you haven?t boated the Hudson you are missing one of the nicest experiences on the east coast.
