DAINGERFIELD STATE PARK
Daingerfield State Park, in Morris County southwest of Texarkana, is a 550.89-acre recreational area (including an 80-surface-acre lake), deeded in 1935 by private owners and opened in 1938.
Springtime brings breath-taking bouquets throughout the park's rolling hills when dogwoods, redbuds, and wisteria vines burst into bloom. Although northeast Texas is known for pines, each fall the park is a delight as sweetgum, oak, and maple trees produce dazzling shades of red and gold, offering a stark contrast to those famous evergreens. Wildlife Observation and Photography: white-tailed deer, tame ducks and geese, raccoons, armadillos, and squirrels. Fish in the lake include crappie, perch, catfish, bass, and chain pickerel.
Enjoy fishing in a serene 80-acre lake, home to catfish, bass and crappie. Fishing gear rentals are available on-site.
The park offers year-round angling opportunities with no license required when fishing from the shore or pier.
For those seeking solitude while casting their lines, paddle out onto the water using rented canoes or pedal boats.
Kids will love participating in regular Junior Ranger Angler programs that teach them about different fish species and conservation efforts.

Daingerfield State Park offers numerous picnic spots with tables, grills and beautiful views. Shelters are also available for rent.
Birding enthusiasts can spot species like the Red-eyed Vireo, Summer Tanager and Yellow-billed Cuckoo. The park is home to a variety of waterfowl including Wood Ducks and Mallards. Birds such as Eastern Bluebirds, Northern Cardinals are common sightings too. Birdwatchers may also see raptors like Broad-winged Hawks or Barred Owls in wooded areas.
Nearby attractions include Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Atlanta State Park, and Caddo Lake State Park; Starr Family Home State Historic Site; Morris County Museum; Wildflower Trails 3rd weekend in April; and Jefferson Historical Pilgrimage and Mardi Gras Jefferson in February; and Captain Daingerfield Days in Daingerfield 3rd weekend in October.
The park is located east of Daingerfield on State Highway 49 for two miles to Park Road 17 entrance. From Dallas/Ft Worth take Interstate 30 to Mt. Pleasant and exit on Ferguson Road; follow State Highway 49 to Daingerfield State Park (about 22 miles from Interstate 30). From Longview, take State Highway 259 to Daingerfield; turn right on State Highway 11 and State Highway 49.
I caught an 8 1/2 lb bass standing on the bank several years ago.
This is a beautiful state park and the staff is wonderful. Love to camp here in the fall.
With all of the fixing up at the park it seems that they needed to work on the swimming area and on the access to the swimming area for people with disability.They have trouble going up and down the steps and getting into the water. My mother who used to love going swimming at the park no longer goes there to swim because she can not climb the steps or step into the lake with out hurting her self the park has nice things but poor access for the disabled or for very small children. Maby they can work on these things.
