HOPKINTON STATE PARK
Hopkinton State Park is located in the towns of Hopkinton and Ashland and includes the picturesque Hopkinton Reservoir. The park offers a variety of year round recreational activities including 2 life guarded swimming beaches, stocked fishing, 1 reservable group picnic site (see Split Rock below), 12 tree shaded, first come first served, picnic areas (300 picnic tables and 165 charcoal cooking grills), 10 miles of marked trails, open field space and a concrete boat launching ramp for non-motorized watercraft. Outdoor Recreation of Hopkinton Inc. provides seasonal boat rentals (508) 435-3965. Environmental Educational programming is offered during the summer. Public restrooms are available during the spring, summer and fall months.

1. Hopkinton State Park offers two main beaches for swimming: the Main Beach and Split Rock.
2. The park's lifeguards are on duty from late June to early September.
3. Swimming is allowed in designated areas only, marked by ropes or buoys.
4. Non-swimmers should stay within shallow water zones under supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
5. Swim lessons are not offered at this state park; visitors must know how to swim before entering deep waters.
6. The beach area also includes picnic tables, grills, restrooms and changing facilities for convenience after swimming activities.
7. Pets aren't permitted in the guarded beach areas during summer months but can enjoy off-leash playtime elsewhere in the park.
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards are available to rent on-site during the summer season from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is also an accessible boat launch area where personal watercraft can be launched into the reservoir. Motorized boats are allowed but must adhere to speed limits set by local regulations in order not to disturb swimmers or wildlife habitats nearby.
Enjoy fishing in two freshwater reservoirs, home to species like largemouth bass, pickerel and bluegill. Trout are stocked seasonally.

Biking enthusiasts can explore a variety of trails, but should be aware that some are challenging and hilly.
The park's terrain is diverse with both paved paths suitable for casual riders and dirt tracks for mountain bikers.
Cyclists must yield to pedestrians on shared-use pathways as safety measures dictate this protocol.
Off-road biking requires caution due to the presence of rocks, roots, steep inclines or declines in certain areas.
While cycling after dark isn't permitted within the area boundaries; ensure you finish your ride before sunset.
Helmets are mandatory while riding bicycles throughout all designated routes ensuring rider's protection at all times.
Remember not every trail permits bicycling - always check signage before setting off on an unfamiliar path.
Keep in mind that during peak season it may get crowded which could limit speed and maneuverability options.
Be cautious around wildlife encountered along bike routes - maintain respectful distance without disturbing them.
The park offers diverse habitats for birdwatching, including forests, fields and wetlands. Over 150 species have been spotted here. Birders can spot waterfowl on the reservoir during migration seasons. The forested areas are home to warblers and other songbirds in springtime.

Rte. I-495 (north or south) to exit 21A, Main Street Hopkinton. Travel on Main Street until the third traffic light located at the heart of downtown Hopkinton. Turn left, traveling North on Route 85. Proceed approximately 2 miles to the Hopkinton State Park entrance on the right (do not enter the Field Office on the left).
